Taken from the Library of Congress website:
“June 6th, 1944: More than 150,000 Allied troops land on the beaches of Normandy, France, as part of the largest seaborne invasion in history. Known as “D-Day,” the name and date loom large in the memory of World War II—perhaps second only to December 7th, 1941. These two dates stand on opposite ends of American involvement in the war, and their meaning could not be more different. D-Day put the Allies on a decisive path toward victory. Beginning with the Normandy beaches, they pushed back against Axis forces until Germany was forced to surrender less than a year later. Their achievements were not accomplished without tremendous sacrifice, however, as the Normandy invasion resulted in over 6,000 American casualties.”
Youth Outdoor Day — Sunday, June 8th
We still need volunteers for this event to help with registration, group guides, etc. If you can help, please be at the Club by 8:00am. This event is fun (and free) for everyone and helps get those attending a safe, responsible introduction to the shooting sports. Please help if you can.
Membership Meeting — June 12th at 7pm
There have been several inquiries about opening the 5 Stand. We’re almost ready but cannot do it without your help. If you would like to participate in getting this up and running, please contact Nick Jessup (330-697-1596). This would be a great asset to our Club.
Thanks to everyone who showed up for last Saturday’s work day. Those members who volunteered their time, energy and equipment are very much appreciated. Everything looks great. There were about 12–15 members participating. With slightly over 400 members, hopefully the next work day will see a better turnout. Where were you?
