*Note to Fishermen.  Please leave Water Inlet Gate alone.  The Water Inlet Gate is managed by the Lake Committte and used to control farm runoff which prevents fish kills.

2019 Fishing Limits and Regulations
Approved and Adopted - Version: Feb 14 2019

  • BASS fishing during breeding season will be catch and release from May 1st to June 30st. PAN FISH fishing during breeding season will be catch and release during the month of May. Long nose gar caught must be removed and destroyed.  NLFGC sponsored events like Youth Day may be exempt, see posted notice during event.
  • Bass size limits during the open season are as follows: 2 bass, over 12” long may be kept per membership card per day. All bass less than 12” long are catch and release and to be returned to the lake immediately. (ideal future breeding size)
  • Husband and wife anglers both must be present to be considered 2 cards.
  • The limit on pan fish is 15 per day per family membership. For example, family of 4 can only take 15 pan fish total. Members are expected to harvest only fish they intend to use, otherwise return the fish to the lake.
  • NLFGC members are encouraged to practice catch and release instead of harvesting fish. Please keep only fish you intend to use!
  • Guests MUST be accompanied by a member at all times.
  • Guests must sign in using the member’s name and ID number before beginning to fish.
  • Guests are expected and required to practice catch and release only, all year, all the time, all species except Long nose gar which need to be destroyed.
  • All youth under 18 years old, accompanied by a member, are exempt from paying the guest fee and must follow daily bag and size limits. Youth must sign in and enter data into the log record.
  • There is no limit on catfish for members. Please take LARGER catfish, especially over 36” long out of the lake.
  • Amurs are beneficial to the lake and are protected. DO NOT remove them from the lake. They are very similar to a carp. The only difference is the top dorsal. Fin of an Amur is short while the top of the dorsal fin of a carp is long. Also, carp have a yellow cast.
  • Long nose gars need to be destroyed. Each gar verified by a club officer or trustee receives a $50.00 credit towards next year’s dues.
  • It is permissible to bow fish for long nose gar
