The club office will be closed on Sundays for the foreseeable future. Dues can always be paid by mail. Please get your dues payments in as soon as possible. The gate combination has been changed.

Youth Outdoor Day is June 9th. We still need more help. Also, get your kids registered as soon as possible. Details are on the website.

There will be a CMP registered military rifle shoot at our range on Saturday, May 25th. Details will be posted on the website. Come out and exercise your 2nd Amendment rights on Memorial Day weekend.

There will be a work party on Saturday, June 1st, from 9 am until about noon. We will be doing some weed eating around the buildings and lake in preparation for Youth Outdoor Day. Also, we will be pressure washing picnic tables. Bring weedeating equipment and safety equipment. The lake has received its second treatment for weeds and algae. Lots of members have been out fishing. The mosquitoes seem to have disappeared at least for the time being. Three of us spent Thursday morning clearing trees and brush at the lake feeder gate and did not encounter very many mosquitoes.

Euchre every Friday evening at 7 pm. Plenty of room for more tables and players. Call Joe for details at 330-353-0337.

Enjoy your Memorial Day weekend.

Officers meeting: Thursday, May 2nd at 6 pm.

The Trap Range will be open Tuesday evenings at 5 pm for practice shooting. Due to rising target cost, prices this season will be $7.00 for members and $7.50 for non-members. You must have your membership card to receive the discount. I have been receiving calls about shooting on Sunday. We need more help to make that possible.

The club office will be closed on Sundays for the foreseeable future. Dues can always be paid by mail. Please get your dues payments in as soon as possible. The gate combination has been changed.

Youth Outdoor Day is just around the corner coming up on June 9th. This is a very big event for the Club and we need all the help we can get. Details will be posted on the website.

There will be a CMP registered military rifle shoot at our range on Saturday, May 25th. Details will be posted on the website. Come out and exercise your 2nd Amendment rights on Memorial Day weekend.

The lake has had its first weed and algae treatment of the season. We are using the same company, AQUA DOC, as last year. They treat about 4 acres around about half of the outside perimeter of the lake. One good thing about all the recent heavy rains is that the lake is at its full capacity. I haven’t had any complaints about the fishing so it must be pretty good. Please observe all the limits posted.

Our next Steel Challenge shoot will be Sunday, May 19th. Details are on the website. Go to the black header at the top of the page, click on USPSA and steel challenge for the full schedule.

Mowing: The PTO clutch in our zero-turn mower finally bit the dust. We ordered a new one and it is 5 to 10 days out. We haven’t mowed much grass in over a week. We are getting behind again. The good news is we found a Bobcat Z7000 zero-turn at a nearby auction. It has a 72-inch deck on it and only 242 hours. It is in like-new condition. The Club purchased the mower for $13,688.00. This will give us a reliable machine to maintain our property with.

Attendance at our monthly retirees and membership meetings has been very sparse. Less than one percent of our membership attended. So to hopefully increase our membership involvement at the monthly membership meeting, the Board is considering moving the meeting to early Saturday morning. By doing so, we could open the kitchen for breakfast before the meeting and if there is any interest we could open the trap range after the business meeting. We would appreciate your feedback. Thanks.

Please shoot safely.

Mowing: Our zero turn mower continues to have issues. Due to getting behind on mowing due to previous breakdowns the electric clutch started showing its age. Also at the same time the battery decided to go bad. It just never ends.

Unless you bring your mother with you, please pick up after yourself. It is just hard to imagine how members can come to our beautiful facility and leave the mess they do.

Please shoot safely.

Range question of the week: Can we shoot tin cans and junk at our ranges?

Answer: NO

To the person who thought it was a good idea to shoot at the fence above the pistol range: WHAT WERE YOU THINKING? Do you have any idea where those rounds went after they went thru the fence? Did you even think where they might go? Do you even care?

If you see stupid stuff like this going on at our ranges, please try to get the person’s name, membership number, or license plate number and call the office at 330 832 2411.

One stupid act like this could cost us the whole place.

Please shoot safely. We are always only one trigger click away from a disaster.

Thank you for your support.

Range question of the week; can I shoot a weapon with a binary trigger, forced return trigger or a bump stock at the NLFGC ranges?

Answer; Yes you can shoot a weapon equipped with one of the above mentioned devices if;

1, The device is considered legal under the rules and regulations of the ATF.

2, You MUST follow range rule Section 2 Firearms safety rules subsection B) You must follow the 5 second rule between shots. Automatic or bump firing is prohibited.

It is my understanding that bump stocks are still prohibited by the ATF at this time.

Glock switches. As I understand the function of the Glock switch once the trigger is pulled one time the firearm will continue to fire until all the rounds in the magazine are fired. Since the rate of fire of this weapon cannot be controlled to one round every 5 seconds these are prohibited at our ranges.

Yes, buzzkill but our ranges are designed to be target ranges not a place to come and dump rounds down range indiscriminately. There is too much chance of ricochets when they do not impact the limestone backstop.

Please shoot safely. We are always only one trigger click away from a disaster.

Thank you for your support.

Rifle and pistol range. When shooting at the rifle range select a shooting bench that is in a straight line down range with the target board you want to post your targets on. No cross firing between target boards. For example, do not take a position at the 50 yard bench and shoot across the range at the 100 yard target board. All bullets MUST impact the gray limestone backstop.

Same at the pistol range. Select a shooting position then place your target stand at your desired distance in a straight line out from your shooting position. All bullets must impact the limestone backstop and not the earthen side walls.

The only time out of position firing is allowed is during competitions such as Steel Challenge and USPSA events.

Please shoot safely. We are always only one trigger click away from a disaster.
