DO YOU KNOW?

That through the Pact Act, signed Aug 10th 2022, you can greatly improve your military benefits If you participated during Korea, Vietnam, or Gulf War eras?

WHAT: VETERANS SERVICE COMMISSION MEETING
WHEN: SATURDAY, MARCH 16, 11:00
WHERE: NORTH LAWRENCE FISH AND GAME CLUBHOUSE 15325 LAWMONT AVE, NORTH LAWRENCE
WHO CAN ATTEND: ANY VETERAN WITH AN HONORARY DISCHARGE AND WAS IN THE MILITARY AT LEAST 6 MONTHS. THE MEETING IS OPEN TO VETERANS AND SPOUSES, EVEN OUTSIDE STARK COUNTY. YOU DO NOT NEED TO BE A NORTH LAWRENCE FISH AND GAME MEMBER TO ATTEND.
WHAT TO BRING: AN ACCREDITED VETERAN SERVICE OFFICER AND ADVOCATE WILL BE ON SITE FOR QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS. ALSO, YOU CAN FILL OUT A LETTER OF INTENT FORM AND MAKE AN APPOINTMENT TO DISCUSS YOUR PARTICULAR SITUATION. BRING YOUR DD214 TO FILL OUT THE LETTER OF INTENT.

Membership meeting:

  • Time: 7pm

Club office hours for raffle ticket sales and 2024 dues payments:

  • Sundays: Noon to 2pm

Trap range closure:

  • The trap range is closed for the season.
  • Volunteers needed to reopen the range:
    • Tuesday evenings
    • Sunday afternoons
  • Requirements:
    • Physical condition: Able to lift about 30 pounds and climb in and out of a trap house.
    • Training provided.

Indoor Archery and air rifle programs:

  • Every Sunday: 11am to 3pm
  • Last shoot: Sunday, March 24th

Traders Day:

  • Date: Saturday, February 17th
  • Time: 9am to 1pm

  • Table rental: $20 each
  • Items allowed for sale: Hunting, fishing, shooting sports, and sportsman’s related items.

Pistol range:

  • Decision: No restriction on firing 30 caliber M1 carbines and new pistols chambered in 30 Carbine at the pistol range.
  • Safety reminder: Shoot safely.

Dues payment:

  • Over 400 members have paid their 2024 dues.
  • Over 100 members still need to pay.
  • Payment options: Mail or visit the office on Sundays from noon to 2pm.
  • No late fees assessed.

February 1st, 2024: Retirees annual sausage gravy over biscuits breakfast and groundhog shoot. Breakfast served at 9 am. Guest of honor: Bodil Phill.

Officers meeting: Thursday, February 1st at 6 pm.

Membership meeting: Thursday, February 8th at 7 pm.

The 2024 Klondike Derby was a huge success. Even though Buckeye Council wisely canceled all camping statewide for the weekend because of the high winds, over 200 Scouts pulled 30 plus sleds through wind chills close to zero degrees. Thanks to all the Scouts, their leaders and parents, and all the sponsors who donated food and raffle prizes for making this such a great event.

The annual Boy Scouts Klondike Derby will be held at the Club on January 12th, 13th, and 14th. All the ranges will be closed on Saturday, January 13th, to facilitate this activity.
